Frequently asked questions
No, I do not require a referral for services. Check with your insurance company as sometimes they may require a note.
You can either reach out through the contact page or immediately book a complimentary consultation session. If you're ready to book, you can do so through my OWL portal.
A consultation call is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, where we can assess whether we think we'll be a good fit. We can either meet over a video call or phone call, your choice! I'll ask a few questions about what brings you to therapy and what you're looking for (it's okay not to know the answer). And you can ask any questions you like to help you get a sense of me and my approach.

During our first session my primary goal is just getting to know you!
I may ask some specific questions or just listen as you tell me what has been going on in your life, or what brought you to therapy. We may cover a wide range of topics or just one. It may take some time to get to know your history and unique situation, so this format can last a few sessions. We might cover the structure of your therapy and how I see our work unfolding. You can bring up any questions or concerns you may have (and of course you can do this at any point in future sessions, too).
It’s important that you feel that I've listened and understood you. And even after a first session, it's important you know that you can stop at any time. You're never locked into therapy, you should feel free to come and go as needed.
The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and situation, which we can discuss at our first session and continue to evaluate as we go. Research indicates that a higher session frequency results in faster change. “When comparing weekly and fortnightly groups, clinically significant gains were achieved faster for those attending weekly sessions; however, few significant differences were found between groups in total amount of change in therapy.” (DOI: 10.1037/a0039774)
Each session is 50 minutes. Longer or shorter sessions can be available on request. The length of treatment depends on your unique needs and situation. We can discuss this at our first session or anytime throughout our work together.Meaningful change is often noticed at about the six-month mark, and clients who stay in therapy for a year often feel substantially better. Those who stay for two years continue to make progress. There is an unmistakable dose–response curve: “The longer people stayed in therapy, the more they improved.”

Most insurance companies will cover a portion of my services. Please confirm with your specific insurance.
Yes! I currently direct bill with certain insurance companies. Please ask me about this and we can review your details.
Yes, I welcome any personal questions you may have including anything about my beliefs and values. The therapy relationship is an important aspect of our work together. Some people may need to know more about me in order to connect or trust me. Others would rather not know anything about me at all. Both approaches are welcome.
I am not currently using AI in my practice and I don’t foresee myself using it in the future. If that changes, I will broach the subject with you, and we can explore your feelings, questions, and consent.
