What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a relationship, not a quick fix. It's a space where you can say the things you'd usually keep to yourself, and be met with curiosity instead of judgment. Over time, it changes how you understand yourself: the patterns you keep repeating, the feelings you talk yourself out of, the parts of you that learned to stay quiet to feel safe.

It's not about being told what's wrong with you or handed a list of fixes. It's slower and more collaborative than that. Together, we look at what's really going on beneath the surface, to build understanding, resilience, and change that actually lasts.

My Approach

I see therapy as a process of discovering and understanding more about ourselves. Through this work, we come to understand the many good reasons behind our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, not as problems to fix, but as things that make sense once we really listen to them.

My approach is holistic and collaborative. I believe that when we're listened to with empathy and compassion, we begin to offer that same empathy and compassion to ourselves.

What to Expect at Your First Session

We'll start with a consent form, which covers things cancellation policies, and confidentiality. If you have questions about me, my practice, or how any of this works, ask anytime, this session or any other. From there, I'll invite you to share what's brought you to therapy and a bit about your life. Toward the end, we'll talk about how the session felt and what you'd like to work toward.

Each session after that builds on those goals, at a pace and in a way that fits you.
